We are glad to announce that the Art Contest will return for our European Fan Festival in Paris! Prepare your brushes, pencils and other materials to create the best FINAL FANTASY XIV piece of art!

Prepare your brushes, pencils and other materials to create the best FINAL FANTASY XIV piece of art! We can’t wait to receive all of your illustrations or crafted items, whether digitally or by post!  
We will be selecting 30 finalists who will see their entries displayed in a gallery at Paris Fan Festival and attendees will vote for their favourites to decide the winners. Both finalists and winners will receive fabulous prizes!

FINAL FANTASY XIV (“GAME”) FAN FESTIVAL ART CONTEST (“CONTEST”)

The Contest is only open to residents of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, and the United Kingdom (“Contestants”). Contestants who are residents of France should refer to the Additional Specific Provisions under these Rules relevant to their country of residence.

PLEASE READ THESE RULES (“Rules”) CAREFULLY. By submitting an entry to the Contest you agree to accept and be bound by these Rules and the terms of any policies referred to in these Rules. We reserve the right to cancel or amend the Contest at any stage if deemed necessary in our opinion and/or if circumstances arise which are outside of our control.

Theme 
Create a piece of artwork inspired by the Game “FINAL FANTASY®XIV”

Entry Requirements
Contestants must be 12 years old or above. Contestants under the age of 18 must obtain the permission of a legal guardian before submitting entries. The Contest is not open to employees, directors or other officers of Square Enix, Ltd. or its respective affiliates, agents, media partners and suppliers.

By participating in the Contest, Contestants are deemed to have accepted our Material Usage Licence located here.

How to Enter
Contestants must create an artwork (the “Artwork”) inspired by the theme “Your memories of FINAL FANTASY XIV” (the “Game Theme”).  

Entries will be judged on expression, contest requirement, and other elements in the sole discretion of Square Enix.

Contestants must submit the Artwork by submitting a digital file containing the Artwork following the procedure at the following Contest entry website:

or by sending the physical art piece to Attn: FFXIV FAN FESTIVAL ART CONTEST Square Enix, Ltd., 240 Blackfriars Road, London SE1 8NW (the “Entry”). All forms of artwork are permitted (eg. Illustrations, sculptures, general crafted items).

As part of their Entry, Contestants must ensure that the following information is included with your entry:

Note: Square Enix will deliver physical prizes to the address registered to the Contestant’s Square Enix Account. Contestants should confirm that their registered address is correct and up to date.

b)    Character and World
Note: Square Enix will deliver in-game prizes to this character.

c)    The name and/or title of the Artwork

d)    Contestant age

* Contestant must not include any additional personal information, such as Contestant’s name or address, in their entry.

Only one Entry per Contestant. If Contestants submit multiple Entries, only the first Entry submitted will be accepted. Contestant must not have been a Finalist or Winner in any other Square Enix-sponsored contests or competitions for the same Entry within the preceding one (1) month. (Eg. Contestant is disqualified from winning a prize if he/she was a Finalist in a FFXIV Costume contest and his/her Entry is a photo of the same costume.) Entries cannot be edited after submission. Only eligible Contestants will be eligible to win the prizes described above.

Accepted Artwork Format

All forms of artwork are permitted (eg. Illustrations, sculptures, general crafted items). The artwork may be submitted digitally or sent-in physically. If uploading via website, the Artwork must be submitted as a digital file in the following accepted format only:

  • .bmp, .png, and .jpg format;
  • Minimum 150dpi resolution (higher resolution is recommended); and
  • Maximum of 5MB in file size.

If sending physical items via regular mail, please allow for sufficient time for the artwork to reach us. Square Enix is not responsible for any delays or loss through the postal system.

Prize
There will be Thirty (30) Finalists, Three (3) Runner ups, and One (1) Grand Winner chosen for the Game Theme. 

Each Finalist will receive the below items: 

  • Modern Aesthetics - Strife (in-game virtual item);
  • Choice of one (1) of the following community in-game items (in-game virtual item): 
    • Scarf of Wondrous Wit 
    • Ahriman Choker
    • Mandragora Choker
    • Bluebird Earring
    • Noble Barding
    • Gaelicap

From the Finalists, we will be awarding one (1) Grand Prize. Upon verification of Contestant’s eligibility, the following prize will be provided to the Winner (“Prize”).

The Grand Prize winner will receive the below items: 

  • Signed Encyclopædia Eorzea: The World of FINAL FANTASY XIV - Volume II (estimated value of EUR44.99);
  • Signed Artbook FINAL FANTASY XIV STORMBLOOD, Art of the Revolution – Western Memories (retail value of EUR34.99);
  • TAITO Mameshiba Plush (retail value of EUR29.99);
  • Modern Aesthetics - Strife (in-game virtual item);
  • Choice of a Community in-game item (listed above. In-game virtual item).

Each Runner Up will receive the below items: 

  • Signed Artbook FINAL FANTASY XIV STORMBLOOD, Art of the Revolution – Western Memories (retail value of EUR34.99);
  • TAITO Mameshiba Plush (retail value of EUR29.99);
  • Modern Aesthetics - Strife (in-game virtual item);
  • Choice of a Community in-game item (listed above. In-game virtual item).

  

In-game items are transferable only to the characters linked to the winner’s service account. No substitutions or exchanges(including for cash) of any prize will be permitted, except that Square Enix reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value for any prize listed above. Actual retail value of prizes may vary due to market conditions at the time prizes are awarded.

Entry Period
October 26, 2018, 12:00 (GMT) / 13:00 (BST) to 7 January 2019, 12:00 (GMT).

Rights in Entries

All entries and other materials (the “Entry Materials”) submitted by you become the property of Square Enix upon submission, and Entry Materials will not be returned to any Contestant.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, Contestant shall retain ownership of the copyrights in his/her Entry Materials (excluding any copyrights already owned by Square Enix or any third party prior to Contestant’s submission). Contestant grants Square Enix, its affiliates, and their respective licensees and assignees a perpetual, royalty free, transferrable, sublicensable, worldwide, fully-paid up license to make any and all uses of such Entry Materials. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you acknowledge that Square Enix, its affiliates, and their respective licensees and assignees will have a perpetual, royalty free, transferrable, sublicensable, worldwide, fully-paid up license to use, reproduce, display, publicly perform, transmit, publish, sell, modify, and make derivative works of the Entry Materials, without separate compensation to you or any other person or entity. You agree to take, at Square Enix’s expense, any further action (including, without limitation, execution of affidavits and other documents) reasonably requested by Square Enix to effect, perfect, or confirm Square Enix’s rights as set forth above in this paragraph. Entry Materials received by Square Enix may be destroyed by Square Enix at any time.


Winner Selection
The FINAL FANTASY XIV community and operations team will select thirty (30) of the best Entries based on overall creativity, originality, and artistry (the “Finalists”). Winners will then be selected from the Finalists by fan votes at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2019 held in Paris.  FFXIV Fan Fest attendees are eligible to vote for one grand prize winner from among the Finalists. The Finalists’ Artwork shall be displayed at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2019 at La Grande Halle de La Villette, 211, Avenue Jean Jaures 75019, Paris, France (“FFXIV Fan Fest”).

Winners will be announced on or after February 25, 2019. Winners will be notified on the Lodestone. Once the Winners are announced, a member of the FFXIV EU Community Team will contact the Winners and ask for their mail address and/or shipping information in order to distribute the Prizes.

We reserve the right to re-distribute any unclaimed Prizes. No cash alternative shall be provided in place of the Prize.

Inappropriate Submissions
Entries containing obscenity, vulgarity, discrimination, or any other offensive subject matter and/or containing any plagiarized or copyrighted material will not be considered by the judges. Entries which infringe upon copyright/intellectual property, personal credit, privacy, are counter to public order and/or morals, are judged to be grossly deviant from the established theme, do not contain all of the required information or contain erroneous information may face disqualification. Square Enix reserves the right to judge whether or not material is appropriate for public display.

Original Work of Authorship
You hereby warrant and represent that (a) as between you and parties other than Square Enix, you own all rights to all Entry Materials submitted by you; and (b) all such Entry Materials are original works of authorship on your part and have not been copied, in whole or in part, from any other work and do not violate, misappropriate, or infringe any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary right of any other person or entity.

Use of Contestant and Winner name and FINAL FANTASY XIV account name etc.

Except where prohibited by law, entry into the Contest constitutes permission to use the Contestants’ and Finalists’ names, account names, avatars, profile images, likenesses, prize information, submissions, and/or other information in connection with the Contest or for promotional purposes without further permission or compensation. As a condition of being awarded any prize, except where prohibited by law, Finalists may be required to execute a further consent to the use of their names, account names, addresses, likenesses, and/or prize information, without limitation, for promotional purposes without further permission or compensation. You hereby warrant and represent that you own all rights to your name, account name, avatar, profile image, and likeness connected with your entry and your FINAL FANTASY XIV or Square Enix account, and that all such materials are original works of authorship on your part and have not been copied, in whole or in part, from any other work and do not violate, misappropriate, or infringe any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary right of any other person or entity.


DISCLAIMER
Square Enix, its affiliates, all participating sponsors, and any of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, professional advisors, employees, agents, vendors, and agencies will not be responsible for any of the following: (a) any late, lost, misrouted, garbled, or distorted or damaged transmissions or entries; (b) any telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet, or other computer or communications related malfunctions or failures; (c) any Contest disruptions, injuries, losses, or damages caused by events beyond the control of Square Enix or other participating sponsors; or (d) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest.


Additional Specific Provisions

Contestants resident in FRANCE:
In accordance with the 6th January 1978 data protection and freedom of information law n° 78-17, we inform you that you have the right to access, rectify and delete information concerning you, by requesting it in writing to the Promoter.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMISSIBLE BY LAW SQUARE ENIX WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ENTRY THAT IS SUBMITTED TO THE CONTEST THAT INFRINGES THE COPYRIGHT OR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OF A THIRD PARTY. YOU WARRANT AND AGREE THAT YOUR ENTRY WILL CONTAIN WORK THAT IS ENTIRELY ORIGINAL TO YOU AND DOES NOT INFRINGE OR INTERFERE WITH ANY THIRD PARTY COPYRIGHT OR OTHER RIGHTS AND YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY SQUARE ENIX AGAINST ANY LOSS ARISING OUT OF ANY BREACH OF YOUR WARRANTY.

In the event that an entry violates a third-party’s copyright, the user’s Service Account may be suspended or cancelled.

Governing Law
These Rules and all or any dispute arising from them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
